Why drive an electric vehicle?

Fun to drive, powerful, beautiful & easier on the planet.

There's nothing quite like driving an electric vehicle for the first time. Driving an electric car like the BMW i3 take you to a new place, where diving is quiet and surprisingly fast, especially from a dead stop.

In B.C. last year 98% of the electricity generated was clean energy, that's why electric vehicles are part of B.C.'s Climate Leadership Plan.

Electricity is not only cleaner, it's a lot less expensive. Most drivers of electric cars in B.C. do the bulk of their charging at home or at work, where you're charged at your residential rate and perhaps even free at work.

Natural Resources Canada reports in their Battery-Electric Consupmtion and Cost chart the the BMW i3 without the Range Extender annual cost per year $437.00. This is based on a Canadian average Kwhr cost of $0.32 where in B.C. the average KwHh residential is approximately $0.13.

The BMW i3 with the Range Extender (a 650cc engine to power a generator to maintain battery level when required) annual aveage cost is $593.00 based on the Canadian average.

You'll save on maintenance.

Brakes being the pads and or rotors on an electric vehicle could last you up to 300,000 km or longer. There are no oil changes on the non Range Extender model. With the extremely efficient regenerative braking system the vehicle will slow down and even come to stop with the regenerative operation. It is recommended that you operate the brake system to bring the vehicle to a complete safe stop.

One study concluded that, over an eightyear-period, maintenance on an electric car is about a third cheaper than maintenance on a car with an internal combustion engine.

There are just fewer parts to cause problems in a relatively simple electric motor.

The BMW i3 is here now at McLachlan Auto Solutions where we "Embrace the Future".

Discover for yourself just how quite driving a BMW i3 can be, as the say goes you can hear yourself think.

Discover the power of the electric motor driving the wheels it's exhilerating. The i3 has a 170hp electric motor generating to the wheels 184 ft/lbs of torgue in an instant. Driving an electric car is whole new experience and a whole new way of driving style and etiquette.

Come in to see and drive one and talk to us about the future of driving.
